שוֹבָךְm. ( שבך; cmp. שְׂבָכָה) net-work, esp. (b. h. אֲרֻבָּה) dove-cote. Ex. R. s. 40 (play on ש̇ו̇ב̇ל̇, 1 Chr. 4:1, sq.) ושובל שהעמיד ש̇וב̇ך לאֹלהים (not ושובך) Bezalel was surnamed Shobal because he erected a dove-cote for God, זה המשכן שהיה עומד כש׳ that is the Tabernacle, which stood (high) like a dove-cote. Ib. העמיד … כש׳ the Lord had the Tabernacle put up like a dove-cote (for the dove Israel). B. Bath.II, 5 מרחיקין … מן הש׳וכ׳ you must keep your ladder (when lopping trees) four cubits away from your neighbors dove-cote.
