    שָׁדַל(Shaf. of דלל; cmp. דֶּלֶת) to swing, be wide open (v. Fr. Del. Proleg., p. 10 1). Pi. שִׁדֵּל (cmp. פָּתָה) to persuade, speak suasively. Kidd.30b sq. גלוי … מפני שמְשַׁדַּלְתּוֹ בדבריםוכ׳ it was revealed and known before Him … that a child honors his mother more than his father, because she sways him by persuasive words, therefore did he place the honor of the father before (Ex. 20:12); Mekh.
