    קַלְמָרִיןf. (καλαμάριον) 1) pen-case. Yalk. Num. 766, v. מִילָן. 2) inkstand. Mikv. X, 1 ק׳ הדיוטותוכ׳ (read: הדיוטית or של הדיוטות) the inkstand of ordinary men (with a rim bent inside to prevent spilling) does not become clean by immersion until you make a hole in its side; וק׳ של יוסף הכהןוכ׳ and the inkstand of Joseph the priest (Josephus Flavius?) had a hole in its side (through which it could be emptied and cleaned). Y.Ab. Zar. III, 42c bot. הנייר … ק׳ צריכה paper and pen are considered ornamental objects (with regard to idolatrous decorations on them); as to the inkstand, it is doubtful. Sabb.80a בק׳ (Ms. M. בקומרין, ed. Sonc. בקלרין, corr. acc.) forming a letter by dropping ink out of the inkstand.Pl. קַלְמָרִים, קַלְמָרִין. Kel. II, 7 ק׳ המותאמות ed. Dehr.
