סַמְוָותָאf. (סְמֵי) blindness; (sub. בעיל) blind person. B. Kam.31b כחוטרא דס׳ Ms. R. (ed. דסמיותא) barring the road in the position of a blind mans groping staff. Ib. 52a כד רגיז … לנגדא ס׳ Ms. R. (ed. סַמְוָתָא) when the shepherd is angry with his flock, he makes the leader blind.
