    טְרִיפָהf. (טָרַף) 1) tearing (by beasts of prey). B. Kam.16b למימרא דט׳ לאווכ׳ (some ed. דטריפא, Ms. M. דטָרַף, ref. to the preceding טרף ואכל) does that mean to say that tearing is not his (the lions) habit? 2) being carried away by waves, being cast ashore. Y.Yeb.XVI, 15d top נותנין … כדי ט׳ the court allows a reasonable time sufficient for the discovery of an eventual escape of the husband by being cast ashore. 3) (denom. of טֶרֶף) covering with leaves, night cover in open air.
