בַּרְזֵג(denom. of בר זוג) to couple, join (cmp. איתברנש Syr., P. Sm. 58 2). Targ. Y. I Deut. 32:4 מכרזג, read מְבַרְזֵג (Y. II זַוֵּוג). Ib. 34:6 (Var. למזווגא). Targ. Ps. 68:7 לבר זוגא (read לבַרְזוּגָן).

זוּגm. (זָוַג) 1) couple, pair, set. Erub.X, 1 מכניסן ז׳ ז׳ he must bring them in, one set at a time (on his head and arm). Snh.12a (in a secret letter) ז׳ באוכ׳ a couple (of scholars or messengers of Jewish authorities) came from Rakkath (Tiberias), and the eagle (Rome) caught them; a. fr.בֶּן ז׳ partner, equal, match, counterpart. Gitt.90b אין זה בן זוּגוֹ וב׳ this (second husband) is not the equal of the first husband (is morally inferior). Gen.
