אטליז

אַטְלֵיז, אִיטְלֵיז, אַטְלֵס, אִיטְלֵיסm. ( טלל, with format. ז or ס; cmp. אוּשְׁפֵּיז; v. טָלַל II, טְלַל I, II) a number of booths put up for a mercantile fair, or for popular entertainments; whence (cmp. חָנוּת) shops, bazaar (v. esp. Gen. R. s. 79, quot. bel.). Ḥull.91b א׳ של אמאוס the fair of Emmaus. Pesik. Asser p. 98b>. Arakh.VI, 5 (24a) אם ממתינין אותה לאיטלס if they delay the sale for the market day; a. fr.Pl. אַטְלֵסִין Gen. R. s. 79 (ref. to ויחן ‘and he encamped = made a חנות Gen. 33:18) Jacob was the first מעמיד א׳ Ar. (ed. also הטלסין, v. הֶטְלֵיס) to put up stores and sell cheap; (Koh. R. to X, 8; Esth. Y.Sot.V, end, 20d (ref. to Job 1:1) ו׳ היה he (Job) was liberal; ומאן דלית הוא ו׳וכ׳ but if one is not liberal, may he not be virtuous (shunning evil)?; but it means forgiving, v. וָתַר.Num.
