Fleisch od. Fische zum Essen, die durch Einsalzen, Einpökeln, Einmachen od. Räuchern vor Fäulniß bewahrt sind; Pökelfleisch (άν μὴ παρῇ κρέας, τάριχον στερκτέον, Zenob. 1, 84); Salzfisch, Her. 9, 120; Ar. Ach. 931 Vesp. 491 u. öfter; auch getrocknet, Ael. H. A. 13, 21. 15, 9. – Die Attiker brauchen es auch oder vorzugsweise als neutr., Antiphan. bei Ath.
