συγγενής, ές (σύν, γένος)① belonging to the same extended family or clan, related, akin to (Pind., Thu. et al.; also Ath., R. 20 p. 73, 17 τὸ συγγενές) in our lit. only subst. In the sing., masc. (Jos., Vi. 177; Just., A I, 27, 3) J 18:26 and fem. (Menand., Fgm. 929 K.=345 Kö.; Jos., Ant. 8, 249) Lk 1:36 v.l. (for συγγενίς). Predom. pl.
