.—The forms κυέω and κύω seem synonymous, but κυέω ([etym.] κυῶ ) is the better-attested form in [dialect] Att. Prose ( κύοντα only v.l. in Pl. Tht. 151b, κύοντες is read in Arist.HA 544a23 (v.l. κύονες, ποιοῦντες) , κύοντα ib. 585a3, κυόμενα (v.l. - ούμενα) Pr.l.c., κυόμενον (v.l. - ούμενον) GA 730b4, but ;ἐκύομεν LXX
ls.59.13).—The [tense] pres. κύω has [pron. full] ῠ in verse, but forms of κῠέω can be restored by altering the accent.—The causal sense belongs only to the [tense] aor. ἔκῡσα. -
