Perh. there is a relation with the name of the east-wind in Cyrene Κάρβας; Arist. Vent. 973b has: ἀπὸ τῶν Καρβανῶν τῶν κατὰ Φοινίκην. Phoen. acc. to Thphr. Vent. 62. Neumann, Heth. u. luw.
