(-υ\/ι- through assimilation?; rejected by Schwyzer 275 Zus. 1). Chantr. Form. 216, like v. Blumenthal Hesychst. 33, assume, no doubt correctly, Pre-Greek origin, which explains μ\/F (cf. Fur. 244) and υ\/ι. Benveniste St. Etruschi 7, 1933, 255ff and LfgrE. Deroy AntCl. 26, 1958, 404-410 compares Lat. aerumna.
