PN Γόννος ( Γόννοι, Γοννοῦσσα), which suggests *γονϜος, but the development of - νϜ- is uncertain (Buck, Gr. Dial. $54). Since antiquity (EM) derived from γόνυ, which is improbable. The comparison with Russ. gumnó `threshing-floor' (Pisani, Rend. Acc. Lincei 6: 4, 359f.) is not convincing; s. Vasmer Russ. et. Wb. s. v. - Also γῶνος H. and χῶνος H., so clearly Pre-Greek.
