       comienza; [primeras palabras de un manuscrito recordadas para su identificación]
       ◘ Latinismo procedente de la forma verbal latina incipit ('empieza'), que se emplea en las descripciones bibliográficas, como sustantivo masculino, con el sentido de 'primeras palabras de un escrito o de un impreso antiguo'. Debe escribirse con tilde por ser palabra esdrújula. La pronunciación que le corresponde en español es [ínsipit, ínzipit], pero es frecuente oír la pronunciación latinizante [ínkipit]. Aunque por influjo de recomendaciones anteriores se usa todavía como invariable en plural ( los íncipit), se aconseja acomodar esta palabra a la regla general y usar la forma íncipits para el plural.
