•• Русское рассказ, конечно, далеко не однозначный эквивалент этого английского слова. В русском слове силен смысловой компонент повествования, в английском он ослаблен. Поэтому, скажем, cover story в журнале – заглавный (основной) материал номера. (В последнее время в журналистской среде мне приходилось слышать и кальку кавер стори, но это явно не для широкой аудитории.) Are you sure you know the full story? – Вы уверены, что знаете все факты? Явная десемантизация слова story в следующих примерах из журнала New Yorker:
