Творческой стороной деятельности компании занимался Уолт, а Рой ведал финансами. Братья не ладили между собой, что в конце концов привело к расколу внутри компании. Последствия разлада продолжали сказываться и после их смерти, что едва не привело к закрытию компании в 1980-е, и прекратились лишь с приходом к руководству М. Эйзнера [Eisner, Michael D.]. В настоящее время компания владеет киностудией, тематическими парками "Диснейленд" [ Disneyland] и "Уолт Дисней уорлд" [ Walt Disney World], занимается производством и сбытом "диснеевской" продукции (игрушки, одежда и пр.). Основная часть доходов компании поступает от эксплуатации ее парков (около 2,6 млрд. долларов в год). Компания владеет акциями "Евро-Диснейленда" [Euro Disneyland], который открылся в 1992 в окрестностях Парижа, а также получает лицензионную плату от продажи билетов в японский "Диснейленд". Кроме мультфильмов, студия в последнее время стала выпускать игровые фильмы для взрослых: "На мели в Беверли-Хиллс" ["Down and Out In Beverly Hills"] (1985), ставший первым ее фильмом с рейтингом "R" [ rating], "Безжалостные люди" ["Ruthless People"] (1986), "Кто подставил кролика Роджера" ["Who Framed Roger Rabbit"] (1988) и др., позволившие ей в 1988 впервые подняться на первое место в стране по кассовым сборам.
