• Senate, United States Сенат Соединённых Штатов, верхняя палата Конгресса США. От каждого штата, независимо от количества населения, избирается по два сенатора, обеспечивая тем самым равное представительство штатов. Сенаторы избираются сроком на 6 лет. Сенат в большей мере, чем Палата представителей, реагирует на вопросы общенационального характера, хотя обе палаты принимают участие в выработке политики и процессе законодательства. Сенату принадлежит исключительное право на импичмент, утверждение назначений, проводимых президентом, ратификацию договоров, а тж. избрание вице-президента, если ни один из кандидатов не получит большинства голосов в коллегии выборщиков. В качестве председателя Сената выступает вице-президент -
