X, 3 בזמן שהיא חוֹצָה (cmp. part. fem. חוֹלָה, fr. חוּל) if it is tight (immovable). 2) to tighten, tie closely. Y. Ḥag.III, 79a top (חָצִין) חָצִים אותה they tie it watertight. 3) חוּץ or הָצַץ to wedge in, form a partition; to intervene, esp. (at bathing) to prevent the water from touching the body.
