(TST)Теория переходного состояния (теория активированного комплекса, теория абсолютных скоростей реакций)Простейший и исторически первый вариант статистической теории химических реакций. Разработана Э. Вигнером, М. Поляни, Г. Эйрингом, М. Эвансом в 30-х годах XX века. Позволяет приближенно рассчитывать скорость элементарных химических реакций, исходя из электронного строения и свойств молекул реагентов. В основе теории лежит фундаментальное для химии понятие многомерной поверхности потенциальной энергии (ППЭ) реакции.
