Вспомнились 1970-е годы, Чеви Чейс, покойные Джон Белуши и Гилда Раднер, передача Saturday Night Live на NBC. Если еще сравнительно недавно это выражение можно было считать аллюзией или своего рода цитатой, то сейчас это, на мой взгляд, вошедшее в язык фразеологическое сочетание. Пока его удалось найти включенным только во Free Online Dictionary of Computing:
•• Not ready for prime time: Usable, but only just so; not very robust; for internal use only. Said of a program or device. <...> This term comes from the ensemble name of the original cast of “ Saturday Night Live,” the “Not Ready for Prime Time Players.”
•• Действительно, это выражение часто используется в материалах по компьютерной тематике. Например:

В заголовке Linux in China: Not Ready for Prime Time подойдет условия еще не созрели. Не созрели хорошо и в политическом контексте, но иногда придется добавить косвенное дополнение. В первом примере: Возможно, иракцы еще не созрели для демократии. В последнем: Кандидат еще не созрел можно добавить для большой политики.
