(Аксенов 6). Igor (Sere-bro) was the creator of a famous series of busts that went by the laconic general title of Fathers. These were portraits of typical representatives of the Soviet aristocracy: a milkmaid, a metalworker, a Party official, a cotton grower, a general, a writer. There was nothing grotesque about them, nothing ironic...nothing but ideal bronze, photographically exact portraits to which no one could possibly object. But...people who knew Serebro, and there were quite a few of them around Moscow, laughed up their sleeves and exchanged winks. "What a collection! Serebro has really stuck the knife into them, now let them look at themselves" (6a). -
