TRADUCCIÓN.—En las noches de las primaveras y de los veranos, el culebrón hace unos cánticos, que yo y todos cuantos nos hemos criado en las aldeas hemos oído muchísimas veces, entonces las culebras que están en el celo, cuando sienten tal cántico, se van acercando silenciosamente hasta el lugar donde se encuentra el Culebrón, y cuando están en tal sitio, si son más de media docena, se pelean entre sí con enloquecida fiereza, porque por el instinto de vida ellas saben, que el culebrón no podrá hacer el amor nada más que de seis para abajo, una vez que ya han quedado las seis culebras que se ganaron el puesto de apadrentarse con el culebrón, éstas tendrán que trabajar para él, quiero decir, que le tienen que alimentar, mientras que buscan un lugar para apadrentarse, que este tiempo nunca suele ser mas largo de dos o tres días. Esta piedrecita misteriosa se le llamaba la "Cuéllebre", el verdadero, o mejor dicho uno de los verdaderos dioses mitológicos de mi amada Asturias, no como ese otro cuéllebre que inventó no se quién, que como tantos otros que se dedicaron y se dedican a lo mismo, que están haciendo de las Costumbres y de todo el Ancestro Cultural de mi Dulce y Embrujadora Tierrina, desde hace ya muchos años, todo un trenzamiento de mal hechas mentiras y equívocos de niños subnormales, que sólo han logrado que nuestra hermosa Cultural no medre, para alcanzar el lugar prominente que por historia y valía le corresponde. —Yo he visto el Cuéllebre una vez en las manos de un afamado curandero, que era un hombre muy pequeño y viejo, alegre y muy hablador, muy amigo de la Bruja Genoveva y de mi amo Rosendo. La piedrecita del "Cuéllebre”, curaba todo envenenamiento que se hiciese en persona o animal, nada más con colocarla encima del mal envenenado, pues tal parecía la milagrosa piedra como si fuese un mágico imán que atrayera todo el envenenamieto que tuviera el ser tratado. —Hoy yo creo que mi amo Rosendo también tenía algo de misterioso y de curandero, pues tantísimo sabía de todas las cosas y costumbres de todos los dioses mitológicos de Nuestra Dulce y Embrujadora Tierrina Asturiana, decíame Rosendo del “Cuéllebre'' que era tal piedrecita lo mismo de buena que un pequeño dios que hiciera el bien en todo momento, pues todo mal de envenenamiento, aunque fuese el mismo cáncer de muerte, si las gentes creían con verdadera profundidad de pensamiento en poder y misterio de l’ "Cuéllebre" sanaban con rapidez. —Amindi ya disde bén pequenu, cundu `l xiñor Llaurianu ´l Curandeiru me falaba de lus dioxes mitolóxicus de nuexa Terra, ya poñíe endugues sequéi ´l Cuéllebre xegún lu pintaben comu ´n dragón chandu fuéu fora enxindi un dióus mitolóxicu, perquéi xegún sous entolenares, xendu Asturies una terra tan aviñoná de vexetaxón, nel tempu agosteiru, cundu tous les yerbes tan rexeques, ya grebes que namái con arimái una pocecha de fuéu s´entamanga un enxedu que lu mesmu queimaba ´l conceyu enteiru,axina que conxidera me falaba ´l xiñor Llaurianu, xi ´l Cuéllebre enruxuráu cumencipiare char fuéu pel sou focicu llantandu queimes per tous lus lláus, ademái aquindi n´Asturies nun ye terra de dragones, pamín tou ístu del dióus Cuéllebre nun ye namai qu´un enrréu adubexáu con dalgu de máxicu,qu´enxindi nun lu papen namai que lus que tan escosáus d´entolenus. —A mí ya desde pequeño, cuando el señor Llauriano el Curandero me hablaba de los dioses mitológicos de Nuestra Tierra, ya ponía en dudas que el Cuéllebre según lo pintaban, como dragón echando fuego fuese en si un dios mitológico, porque según sus pensares, siendo Asturias una tierra tan llena de vegetación, en el tiempo agostero, cuando todas las hierbas estén secas, tanto que nada más con arrimarle una chispa de fuego, se origina un incendio que lo mismo quemaba el concejo entero, así que considera, me decía el señor Lauriano, si el Cuéllebre enloquecido empieza a lanzar fuego por sus hocicos haciendo quemas por todas partes. —Además aquí en Asturias no es tierra de dragones, para mi todo esto del dios Cuélebre no es nada más que un enredo envuelto con algo de magia que en si no lo cree nada más que aquellos que tienen seco el entendimiento.
