Слой атмосферы планеты, расположенный над гомосферой, в котором состав атмосферы изменяется с высотой так, что средняя молекулярная масса уменьшается с высотой.
Примечание
Каждая компонента атмосферы планеты вследствие молекулярной диффузии распределена по высоте в гетеросфере со своей шкалой высоты для концентрации, определяемой ее молекулярной массой.
