11 Burmahs Cottons
These cottons are largely exported direct from Rangoon or overland to China, and are little used in India. Principal centres are Myingyan and Thayetnyo. The principal varieties are Wa-gale (Myingyan) and Wa gyi. Suitable for spinning up to 8's/10's weft. The Shan State cottons are of superior staple, but are little known. -
12 Improved Upland Cottons
These are " improved " varieties of ordinary Upland cotton obtained by the selection of choice individual plants in the fields. They have a length of 11/4-in. to 13/4-in., and are more lustrous than Uplands, but less lustrous than Egyptian. There are a large number of these cottons, among which are the following: - Aliens' long staple. Bates' big boll black rattler, Bohemian, Commander, Cooks' long staple, Culpepper, Excelsior, Moon, Peterkin, Richmond, Russels' big boll, Shines early prolific, and Sunflower.Dictionary of the English textile terms > Improved Upland Cottons

14 Sewing Cottons
These are cabled yarns and usually have 6, 9 or 12 threads. The single threads are twisted together in the same direction as the twist in the singles. Usually two or three threads are thus twisted. Then two or three of these " preparings " are twisted together in the opposite direction. The cabled yarns are then gassed and polished or glazed. -
