Примечания
1. Дефект может иметь зазубренный край и в зависимости от степени грубости и усилий при дальнейшем деформировании может развиваться в трещину.
2 В поперечном сечении дефект имеет примерно одинаковую глубину по длине, чаще всего в пределах миллиметра, и полость с гладкими стенками, расположенную под углом к поверхности, суживающуюся вглубь. Неметаллических включений в полости дефекта и на продолжении его не имеется. В полости наблюдается окалина. Изменений структуры вокруг дефекта либо нет, либо в изделиях из феррито-перлитных и мартенситных сталей наблюдается частичное обезуглероживание с плавным переходом к нормальной структуре.
3. Дефект может быть прямолинейным или дугообразным, непрерывным или периодически повторяющимся.
