{"Wind" – "виться, извиваться".} Название реки в Старом лесу, которое, предполагается, относится к языку Shire. Это была извилистая река, вдоль которой росли ивы ("withies"). "Withy-" нередко встречается в английских топонимах, в отличие от "-windle" ( Withywindle было построено по образцу "withywind", названия вьюнка {Следует отметить, что на самом деле "withywind" – это название ломоноса виноградолистного (Clematis vitalba), лазящего кустарника, не принадлежащего к семейству вьюнковых.}). Желательно, чтобы в языке перевода было "сконструировано" подходящее слово. Очень удачна голландская версия Wilgewinde ("wilg" = английское "willow", "ива"). Я не понимаю, что означает шведский перевод, Vittespring. В скандинавских языках имеются слова, родственные "withy", также родственно ему и немецкое "Weide". -
