    דְּקַן, דִּקְנָא, דִּיקְ׳m. ch. = h. זָקָן, beard, bearded chin, hair-growth. Targ. Lev. 13:29 sq.; a. fr.B. Bath.58a תפשיה בדִיקְנֵיה seized him by his beard. Gen. R. s. 72 (prov.) הניאת לסבי מן דִּיקְנִי thou pleasest my grandfather (with hair) from my beard, i. e. you wish to be liberal at other peoples expense; (Yalk. Gen. 129 הבאת לפני מן דאקני, corr. acc.). Naz.39a bot. (read:) כד צבעי סביא דִיקְנֵהוֹן when old men dye their beards. B.     קְנֵי, קְנָאII ch. sam(קני, קנה to estabIish). Targ. Gen. 31:18. Targ. Y. ib. 47:23; a. fr.Keth.82b דקְנָאִי ודקָנִינָא which I have acquired (own), and which I may acquire in the future. B. Bath.44b דאִיקְנֵי קנהוכ׳ if the document reads ‘that which I may obtain (shall be seizable for my debt), and be bought and sold again …, it cannot be seized; ib. 157a.     רִירָאch. sam(ריר II juice, spittle, discharge). Targ. 1 Sam. 21:14. Targ. Job 6:6.Keth.77b (describing רַאֲתָן) איתי ליהר׳וכ׳ slaver comes out of his mouth on which flies settle. Ḥull.77a דקני משכא רִירֵיה Ar. (v. Tosaf. a. l.; ed. דקנה משכא דידיה) when the skin over the fracture retains the discharge of the broken bone (ed. when the skin holds its own place). Ib. דקנא גרמא ריריה Mus. in Ar. ed. Koh. (ed. רידיה) when the broken bone retains its discharge. Bets.22a ר׳ discharge of a sore eye; Ab. Zar.28b.Pl. רִירִין. Y.Ter.VIII, 46a top עברתר׳ עלוי ופסקתיה (the serpent nibbling at the melon) passed slaver over it and cut through it (made the poison go through it).
