HRa standard number of working hours squeezed into fewer than five days. Common models of the compressed workweek include four ten-hour days or three twelve-hour days each week. An alternative variation is to lengthen the normal workday to a lesser extent, for example, by 45 minutes, to allow an extra day off every two or three weeks. The minimum modification is to work a slightly longer day for four days in return for a shorter Friday. A compressed workweek is often introduced as an employee benefit to provide an extended weekend through shorter Friday working. -
