В самом общем понимании — некоторое действительное число f(x), поставленное в соответствие каждому элементу (объекту) x из множества X и выбранное таким образом, чтобы это множество можно было упорядочить, введя условие: x > y, если f(x) > f(y). Таким образом, если придать числу f(x) смысл значения, важности и т.п., то можно описывать различные отношения между альтернативами (та из них важнее, у которой В. больше). Отображение f при этом называется весовой или взвешивающей функцией.
