"Уиверс"Первая группа исполнителей народной музыки, достигшая коммерческого успеха. Ее творчество заложило основу возрождения интереса к народной музыке [folk revival] в 1950-60-е. Создана в 1948 П. Сигером [ Seeger, Pete], Л. Хейсом [Hays, Lee], Ф. Хеллерманом [Hellerman, Fred] и Р. Джилберт [Gilbert, Ronnie]. Исполняла не только американскую музыку, но и песни других народов. Пластинки с ее песнями "Спокойной ночи, Айрин" ["Good Night, Irene"], "Прощай, приятно было познакомиться" ["So Long, It's Been Good to Know You"], "На туманной вершине" ["On Top of Old Smokey"], "Поцелуи слаще вина" ["Kisses Sweeter Than Wine"], "Если бы у меня был молот" [ If I Had a Hammer] и др. расходились миллионными тиражами. В период маккартизма [ McCarthy Era] в 1952-55 члены группы попали в черный список [ blacklist]. В 1957 Сигер ушел из группы, хотя время от времени выступал с ней.
