1901-1984Fue ayudante de script, ayudante de operador, actor y ayudante de direccion antes de empezar el mismo a dirigir peliculas en 1932. De la pequena productora Tiffany pasa a la Paramount, y de esta a la Fox, en la que tuvo a su cargo la realizacion de un buen pu nado de peliculas de Charlie Chan. Fue apreciado en Hollywood por su habilidad con los presupuestos, que nunca superaba, y por la frecuencia con que sus filmes eran rentables en taquilla, hasta el punto de recibir el nombre de Bruce “Lucky” Humberstone. Su mejor filme fue, tal vez,.Quien mato a Vicky? (I Wake Up Screaming, 1945), solida muestra de cine negro. Dirige tres westerns razonablemente atractivos.Lucky Cisco Kid. 1940. 67 minutos. 1898-1982De origen ruso, llega a America siendo aun un nino y es en el nuevo continente donde se inicia profesionalmente como actor de cine mudo. Mas tarde trabajara como guionista y, por fin, como realizador. En la Republic realizara sus mejores filmes de aventuras, como The Fighting Seabees (1944), o La venganza del bergantin (Wake of the Red Witch, 1948). Ya en la Paramount continua haciendo el tipo de peliculas que mas le agrada, y para las que esta mas dotado, como La mansion de Sangaree (Sangaree, 1953), o Jibaro (Jivaro (1953). Nada especialmente favorable puede decirse de el como realizador, ni de sus peliculas, pero tambien es cierto que, en su terreno, consigue productos muy eficaces.
