OED: 1827. To leave, or clear out. This term originated in the Southwest, but has since become common slang throughout the United States. It is generally used as an intransitive verb, but as Blevins and the OED note, it also has a transitive usage, as in "they vamoosed the ranch."Alternate forms: bamoose, vamonos, vamoos, vamos, vamose, vampoose.
