    גַּוָּוזָאI m. ( גוז) = h. גֶּזַע, 1) trunk, stem. Ber. 40ab איתיה לג׳וכ׳ (Ms. F. גִּזְעָא, Ar. גִּזָּא) there remains a stem which produces fruits again. Ab. Zar.35b קטפא דגַוָּזָא ed. (Ms. M. גווזא, Ar. גזא, גנזא, v. Koh. Ar. Compl. s. v. גז II, p. 26 2); Nidd.8b קטפא דגווזא the gum which oozes out of the stem, opp. דפירי.Ned.50a (became rich) מן גַּוָּזָא through a (hollowed out) trunk. Ib. לא אשכחו אלא גווזאוכ׳ they found on the sea shore nothing (of the wrecked ship) except a trunk.
