= LANлокальная [вычислительная] сеть, ЛВСодин из нескольких видов территориально ограниченных коммуникационных сетей. ЛВС соединяет компьютеры (называемые рабочими станциями, или узлами сети), принтеры и другое электронное оборудование, позволяя с высокой скоростью обмениваться различного вида информацией и совместно использовать общие для сети ресурсы (например, принтеры, модемы). Расстояние между компьютерами в ЛВС, как правило, не более 300 м. Локальные сети могут иметь шлюзы в коммутируемые сети общего пользования или другие локальные сети.
