[англ. wilt — вянуть]увядание растений, вызываемое разнообразными причинами. Чаще В. называют трахеомикозную болезнь, вызываемую несовершенными грибами Verticillium dahliae (вертициллиозный В.) и Fusarium oxysporum (фузариозный В.). Первый поражает около 350 видов двудольных растений. Возбудитель развивается в почве, через корни проникает в растение и распространяется в водопроводящей системе ксилемы (см. ксилема), вызывая увядание надземных органов. Чаще погибает все растение, реже — отдельные его части. Больше всего от В. страдает хлопчатник, несколько меньше кунжут, канатник, лен, томат, картофель, дыня, арбуз, персик, абрикос.Толковый биотехнологический словарь. Русско-английский. > вилт
