Присутствие сходных лингвистических конструкции ясно свидетельствует о том, что, несмотря на все различия в т.н. ментальности, мозги у детей разных народов работают похоже. Сейчас, несмотря на политическую малоприемлемость таких взглядов в Америке, психологи все больше склоняются к тому, что характер работы наших мозгов определен генетически ( hard wired).

Take a leak (to) — пописать, отлить. Leak - течь.Take (make) a shot (to) — попытаться, попробовать.

To take a shit (dump) — наложить кучу (уже) сами знаете чего (см. SHIT).А вот просто "To take shit" - это когда вас обижают, а вы терпите. Вот она, непереводимая роль неопределенного артикля, позволяющего отличить нечто материальное (в данном случае - чисто конкретное shit) от шит'а, как понятия.T.S. — сокращение не от этих выражений, а от вульгарного (*)"tough shit", со значением типа нашего "по ушؠв... этой вещи", т. е. совсем опозорился, не отмыться.

Правда недавний интересный телесериал Спилберга про контакты с пришельцами (наших забирали, а потом выпускали измененными) тоже назывался "Taken" - но в прямом смысле, без всякого двойного дна - Взятые, а отнюдь не Поиметые.Take names (to) — составлять список нарушителей. Это из школы, такие списки учителя составляют для передачи директору, в Америке тоже.
Take someone (something) out (to) — если относиться к предмету неодушевленному, то разрушить, а если к одушевленному - чаще всего, пригласить этот объект в ресторан, просто пойти с ним куда-то, как в старину говаривали - ангажировать; но в спорте это будет - заблокировать.
Take the spear (to) — принять вину на себя ( spear - стрела).
Taking care of business — как ни странно, эбоникс. Смысл выражения - принимать жизнь такой, какая она есть, делать то, что следует делать.
