57 -to give o to get?-
Nota d'usoIl verbo regalare corrisponde a “to give” o “to get”, con sfumature di significato leggermente diverse. Esistono inoltre i verbi “to gift” e “to present”. Il primo viene usato per lo più in contesti figurati: Sbagliando quel rigore, Jones ha regalato la coppa all'Arsenal, with that penalty miss Jones gifted Arsenal the cup. “To present”, invece, si riferisce soltanto a regali di una certa entità e viene usato di solito in contesti ufficiali: La signora Thomas ha regalato dieci nuovi computer alla biblioteca, Mrs Thomas presented the library with ten new PCs. -
