    CHOICE OF WORDS:
Значение прилагательного eager может быть передано и прилагательным anxious. B ряде случаев оба прилагательных взаимозаменяемы: we are anxious/eager to learn the news мы очень хотим узнать новости; he was eager (anxious) to get there as soon as possible он стремился попасть туда как можно скорее. Однако прилагательное anxious может обозначать не только сильное желание, но и желание, сопровождающееся беспокойством, страхом, неуверенностью. В этих случаях прилагательные eager и anxious не взаимозаменяемы: he was eager to be home again (но не anxious!) он очень хотел вновь быть дома; he is eager in his studies (но не anxious!) он увлечен занятиями; mother was anxious about you (но не eager!) мама беспокоилась о тебе; don't be anxious (но не eager!) if I am late не волнуйся, если я запоздаю; he is eager for knowledge (но не anxious!) у него большая тяга к знаниям
