färben, tingere, mit etwas, alqā re (indem manchen Stoff in die Farbe eintaucht, mit ihr tränkt, z.B. ting. capillos [um sich jung zu machen]). – inficere, mit etwas, alqā re (mit etwas anmachen, so daß der Stoff seine natürliche Beschaffenheit wo nicht verliert, doch verändert). – imbuere alqā re (mit etwas tränken übh.). – colorare alqd. inducere colorem alci rei (einer Sache eine Farbe geben, mit einer Farbe überstreichen). – Ist »färben« = eine Farbe hervorbringen, so steht ebenf. tingere mit Akk. der Farbe, z.B. wasserblau s., caeruleum tingere: purpurn s., purpuram tingere: Waid färbt wasserblau, vitrum caeruleum efficit colorem. – etwas rot s., s. rot: etwas schwarz s., s. schwärzen. – mit Blut s., cruentare; sanguine inficere (z.B. einen Ort): mit jmds. Blut gefärbt sein, alcis sanguine imbutum esse (von der Straße). – sich färben, colorari. se colorare. colorem ducere (übh., auch vom Obste). – se variare. variari. varium fieri coepisse (nur vom Obst). – sich mit etwas s., se inficere alqā re (z.B. vitro): sich nicht s. lassen, colorem non bibere od. non ducere. – Färben, das, s.
