ἐπιστήμων, ον gen. ονος (s. ἐπίσταμαι; Hom. et al.; Epict. 2, 22, 3; POxy 1469, 12; LXX; En 5:8; Philo; Just., D. 8, 5; Ath. 9:1 ἐπιστημονεστάτους) pert. to being knowledgeable in a way that makes one effectual in the exercise of such knowledge, expert, learned, understanding (w. σοφός, as Dt 1:13; 4:6; Da 5:11; Philo, Migr.
