1890-1964Profesional del cine en el Hollywood dorado de los anos 30 y 40, dirige casi sesenta peliculas sonoras. Antes, en el periodo mudo, fue gag-man, ayudante de direccion y realizador de otros veinte filmes. Ca lificado como director sin estilo propio, aborda casi cualquier genero con la misma solvencia, aunque es recordado especialmente por su colaboracion con Tom Mix en la epoca muda, y por su magnifico filme belico Guadalcanal (Guadalcanal Diary, 1943).Die grosse Fahrt. 1931. 79 minutos.
