EN definition: If a hockey game remains tied after three periods and a five, ten or twenty minute overtime in a game requiring resolution at the Olympic Games, the game will proceed to a shootout. Each coach selects five players from the team to take penalty shots one at a time against the opposing goalkeeper. Each team takes five penalty shots on the opposition goalkeeper. The team with the most goals wins.
