Сертификат, выдаваемый налогоплательщику британским Департаментом налогов и сборов, в подтверждение того, что он депонировал в налоговых органах сумму денег, т.е. произвел авансовый платеж будущего подоходного налога, налога на реализованный прирост рыночной стоимости капитала или корпорационного налога. Этот платеж должен составлять не менее 2000 ф. ст. и производиться в налоговой конторе. Налоговые депозитные сертификаты приносят проценты, которые облагаются налогом. Ставка процента зависит от того, изымаются ли депонированные средства наличными или используются на погашение налоговых обязательств. В последнем случае ставка процента выше. Обычно проценты начисляются до момента изъятия наличных средств, однако если сертификат используется для уплаты налогов, проценты по нему могут начисляться только до установленной даты налоговых платежей, а не до фактической даты платежа.
