1910-2001Director de peliculas de presupuestos bajo y medio, trabajo muchos anos para la Universal, donde no rechazaba ningun proyecto, por exotico que resul tase. Procedia de los escenarios neoyorquinos, donde estuvo en activo desde comienzos de los anos 30, sobre todo en el mitico Shubert Theater. Su primera pelicula data de 1945, despues de haber sido director de dialogos de algunas peliculas, especialmente Tener y no tener (To Have and Have Not, Howard Hawks,1944). Rodo, sobre todo, comedias, hasta completar una veintena larga de peliculas, algunas de ellas con un atractivo singular, como El halcon del desierto (The Desert Hawk, 1950). Su ultimo filme fue Frankie and Johnny, western atipico, destinado a los admiradores incondicionales de Elvis Presley.The Gal Who Took the West (La cautivadora). 1949. 84 minutos. Tech nicolor.
