Когда-то курение табака было запрещено в тюрьмах, и заключённые, которым удавалось достать его, тёрли носы, или snouts (пятачки), чтобы скрыть его употребление. A snout baron («пятачковый барон») — заключённый, контролирующий тайную продажу и распределение табака в тюрьме. Snout day — так назывался день, когда табак раздавался заключённым.
