Yerbeiru, dícese del jornalero que es contratado por todo el mes de la hierba, o por lo que dure el tiempo en recoger a esta. Había dos clases de yerbeirus, aquellos que nada más que se contrataban como segadores, y aquellos otros que durante el tiempo que durase la recolección de la hierba, hacían todo lo que el amo les mandase, siempre que el tiempo no estuviese para andar a la hierba, quiere esto decir, lluvioso, nublado, teniendo ya algun prado segado y tendido. Yo no sé ahora como andan los yerbeirus, quiero decir lo que cobran por segar la hierba, ni tampoco si ya hay alguno, pero le diré, que en mil novecientos cuarenta, me contrató mi madre como yerbeirín por el jornal de quince duros.
