саморегулирующая организация
Одна из нескольких организаций, созданных в Великобритании на основании Закона о финансовых услугах 1986 г. для регулирования деятельности инвестиционных финансовых учреждений, а также для разработки и введения определенных правил поведения. Сначала Управление по ценным бумагам и инвестициям (Securities and Investment Board) признало пять саморегулирующих организаций, которые были ему подотчетны. В 1991 г. число саморегулирующих организаций в результате объединения Ассоциации рынка ценных бумаг (Securities Association Ltd (TSA)) и Ассоциации брокеров и дилеров по фьючерсным операциям (Association of Futures Brokers and Dealers Ltd (AFBD)) в Организацию no ценным бумагам и фьючерсам (Securities and Futures Authority Ltd (SFA)) сократилось до четырех. Другими тремя саморегулирующими организациями являются:
Регулирующая ассоциация финансовых посредников, менеджеров и брокеров (Financial Intermediaries, Managers and Brokers Regulatory Association Ltd (FIMBRA)), которая регулирует деятельность организаций, осуществляющих торговлю и управление ценными бумагами, сертификатами паевых трастов и страховыми полисами, связанными с паевыми трастами, а также работу независимых финансовых консультантов;
Регулирующая организация компаний по страхованию жизни и паевых трастов (Life Assurance and Unit Trust Regulatory Organisation (LAUTRO)), которая регулирует деятельность компаний, предлагающих страхование жизни и паевых трастов как принципалов;

Управление по ценным бумагам и инвестициям
Регулирующий орган, созданный на основе Закона о финансовых услугах 1986 г. для осуществления контроля за деятельностью лондонских финансовых рынков (фондовой биржи, компаний по страхованию жизни, паевых трестов). На каждом рынке действует своя саморегулирующая организация (Self-Regulating Organisation (SRO)), подотчетная Управлению по ценным бумагам и инвестициям. Основной функцией данного Управления является защита инвесторов от мошенничества и обеспечение соблюдения установленных государством и саморегулирующими организациями правил. Однако структура институтов Сити, равно как и правила регулирования их деятельности, может меняться. Это означает, что и Управление по ценным бумагам и инвестициям должно обладать способностью адаптироваться к меняющейся практике. Кроме того, некоторые виды деятельности учреждений Сити не подлежат контролю со стороны Управления; например, поглощения остаются под контролем Комитета по поглощениям (см.: City Code on Takeovers and Mergers (Кодекс Сити по поглощениям и слияниям)). Члены Управления по ценным бумагам и инвестициям назначаются совместно министром по торговле и промышленности и управляющим Банка Англии из числа сотрудников ведущих финансовых учреждений Сити. Это, конечно, может служить поводом для обвинений в лоббировании, однако весьма сомнительно, что человек со стороны будет в состоянии разбираться в деловых операциях Сити настолько хорошо, чтобы суметь осуществлять регулирующие функции. Управление по ценным бумагам и инвестициям наделено полномочиями предоставления инвестиционным институтам статуса признанных. Плата за официальное признание и является основным источником финансирования Управления.

Ведущая индийская фондовая биржа, на которой котируются ценные бумаги более 2000 компаний. Торговля акциями возникла в Индии под влиянием Великобритании; она начала развиваться, сначала неформально, в 1830-х гг. в Бомбее, который являлся коммерческими воротами на Запад. В настоящее время биржи существуют и в семи других городах Индии. Индийское правительство учредило Совет Индии по ценным бумагам и биржам, который осуществляет регулирование фондового рынка. По своим методам и функциям Совет во многом сходен с Комиссией по ценным бумагам и биржам (Securities and Exchange Commission) в США и Управлением по ценным бумагам и инвестициям (Securities and Investment Board) в Великобритании.
