       Professeur au département d’études françaises de l’Université de Toronto (Canada) et créateur de ressources littéraires librement accessibles en ligne, Russon Wooldridge fonde en mai 2000 le Net des études françaises (NEF), suite au colloque qu’il organise pour un groupe de professionnels francophones (Colloque international sur les études françaises favorisées par les nouvelles technologies d’information et de communication, Toronto, mai 2000). Le NEF se veut d’une part "un filet trouvé qui ne capte que des morceaux choisis du monde des études françaises, tout en tissant des liens entre eux", d’autre part un réseau dont "les auteurs sont des personnes oeuvrant dans le champ des études françaises et partageant librement leur savoir et leurs produits avec autrui". Russon Wooldridge y propose notamment NEFbase, un ensemble de bases de données textuelles interactives fonctionnant sous TACTWeb (TACT: Text Analysis Computing Tools). Le NEF est référencé dans les Signets de la Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF). Par ailleurs, Russon Wooldridge est l’un des membres fondateurs du David Trott Crossroads Centre, créé en 2004 par les départements de français, d’allemand et d’italien de l’Université de Toronto.
