En officiel valutakurs afgivet af regeringen eller centralbanken i et land gældende for egen møntenhed mod en anden valuta. Kaldes også central rate. -
16 purchasing power parity exchange rate theory
Købekraftsparitetsteorien, udviklet af den svenske økonom Gustav Cassel, antager, at valutakursudviklingen afspejler forskelle i udviklingen af landenes prisniveauer. På et effektivt marked vil der være tendens til, at valutakurserne udvikler sig hen imod en ligevægt, for at konkurrenceforholdet mellem landene ikke skal forrykkes. Argumentet er, at der via under- eller overskud på handelsbalancen vil blive skabt betalingsstrømme, der vil genoprette balancen mellem pris- og valutakursudviklingen. Empirisk viser det sig, at købekraftsparitet kun eksisterer på langt sigt, og de kortsigtede afvigelser må tilskrives faktorer såsom renteudviklingen, forventningerne til den økonomiske aktivitet, politiske begivenheder m.v. Den reelle valutakurs, dvs. valutakursen korrigeret for prisudviklingstendensen i forhold til udlandet. Den reelle valutakurs er et udtryk for den aktuelle afvigelse fra purchasing power parity exchange rate theory og er således et mål for et lands prismæssige konkurrenceevne i forhold til udlandet. -

Forkortes VRN. Obligation med variabel rente. I modsætning til den traditionelle floating rate note, hvor renten for den enkelte renteperiode (1, 3 eller 6 måneder) fastsættes automatisk i overensstemmelse med en på forhånd fastlagt formel som et tillæg til den aftalte referencerente, f.eks. LIBOR, aftaler udsteder og lead manager under en VRN en ny margin over referencerenten for hver ny renteperiode, typisk 3 måneder, afhængig af udsteders aktuelle kreditmæssige status og de gældende markedsvilkår. -
