процесс изменения характеристики несущего волнового сигнала с целью передачи информации (данных). Модуляция бывает амплитудной (AM), фазовой (PM) или частотной (FM) - когда меняется амплитуда, фаза или частота несущего сигнала соответственно; в процессе модуляции создаётся аналоговый сигнал, который содержит в себе цифровые данные и может быть передан по аналоговой линии связи. Существует множество разных видов модуляции и манипуляции.
